Tutorial 9-4. Re-using Subreports

The subreport that you just created, Company Header, is completely independent of the detail data printed within the report. Since the company header is an unlinked subreport, it would be smart to re-use it on other reports. However, we know that subreports are saved within the definition of the main report. So we need to save it independently of the main report.

1. Open the report ‘Company Header.rpt’ and go into design mode.
2. Double-click on the Company Header subreport to open it in design mode.
3. Select the menu option File > Save Subreport As. Enter the filename Company Header Subreport.rpt and click the Save button to save it.
4. To use this subreport within other main reports, when the Insert Subreport dialog box is open, select the option Choose Existing Report and click the Browse button and find the subreport file to insert it into the main report.
